Un-Biological Sisters

       One way to tell if your friend is true, is even if you push them away a million times, they'll come running back to you because they care.


 Being an only child is often boring... really, really boring. That's why I love school because I get to be with my bestfriends, whom I think of as my 'Un-Biological' sisters. We share common interests, know each other's secrets and do all other fun stuff together. I enjoy their company very much...
        My bestfriends accept my differences, positive and negative. They accept me for who I am and understand me. That's why I know they're true friends and I learn to make most everything I do with them and cherish all our memories. I also accept them for who they are.


        I woud like to tell about my bestfriends in the Saint Anne classroom... Some of them haven't been my classmates before, but since I met them during the opening of classes this year, we just became closer and closer. Take note: THEY ARE NOT IN ORDER.

 KRIZZA ISABELLE SIGAYA and KRISS ADRIANNE FALLARCO

      

        Krizza is the bestfriend whom I have known for the longest. She was a classmate of mine when I was a new student in Assumption about six years ago. She's very smart, kind, trustworthy and INNOCENT as an angel! She plays the guitar and the piano.We were born on the same year and she is three months older than I am. We both have braces, too. 

        Kriss is the oldest one in our group. She first became my classmate in Grade 4. Since then, we became friends until we became bestfriends this year. She plays the piano. She's very FUN-LOVING, cheerful, smart and caring.

         This schoolyear is the first time I got to be classmates with Christine. She's very fun to be with. We also attend ballet classes together. She is a great dancer. She is very shy and quiet, but also NOISY she gets to know you more. Just Kiddin'!

          Jann Martine, or better known as MarJa, has first been my classmate in Grade 3. She is a great, great, GREAT artist. All her creations are Perfect! It's only this year that we have been close. She is very patient and respectful.

          

        

           We, five friends, treat each other equally. We love to sing! You could oftentimes hear us singing the songs of ONE DIRECTION, our favorite band, or singing Super Bass by Nicki Minaj.

           I also admit, I am the loudest among us five. We go together during recess. We help each other in class. When we go together, they, quiet people, and me, the loud one, could not stop talking and it would just go on and on and on. We love to laugh. We share a lot of common interests. It's destiny that we became friends. Life wouldn't be the same if one of them would be gone. They became a big part of me and hopefully, I became a big part of them too. They will forever be my bestfriends.

           Growing up, there were times when I wanted to have sisters. Now, I have four. They may be 'Un-biological' sisters, but if I were given a chance to choose who I want my sisters to be, I would choose them.

             

How CHALLENGES became FUN in JOURNALISM

           For some, Journalism class is 50 minutes of nerve-wracking emotions. For me, it is 50 minutes of learning... with fun.

               I was absent during the first ever meeting in our Journalism class. When I asked my classmates what happened, they told me that it was very nerve-wracking. They told me that the teacher was very strict since it was also our first time to be handled by Mr. Geraño for Journalism. Because it was just the first meeting, most students did not bring their "Journalism for Filipinos" book. They told me that our teacher got mad because of it. That's why I got nervous at first.

               The second meeting, which was my first meeting in Journalism class, I was very nervous of what was to come but I guess people think differently. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions from what my classmates have said. Seeing (or experiencing for yourself) really is believing. I found Journalism class fun. I found it very challenging.

              

     Our Journalism class has helped me in a lot of ways:

       First, I learned that reading newspapers or listening to the news could help you a lot. In Journalism class, it could really help you put up your grade because the current events that happen comes out in the quiz which is a big part of the criteria for grading. If you don't read newspapers or listen to the news, well your grade would just go down. But, that's not the primary reason for reading newspapers. For me, news makes us updated with current happenings in our world today. It helps us gain awareness of what is right and wrong, of what to do, and how to deal with the happenings.  What would we be without knowing a single event in our world at present?

        Second, Journalism class really helped me test and enhance my vocabulary. I am a person who loves to read and write, and having check-up quizzes of our vocabulary, I learn how much I understand what I read and write.

        Third, I learned that; "In spelling, there is not such thing as democracy. It is communism." It taught me to be careful always.

         Fourth, I learned how technology shaped our world and our minds, and how it changes journalism. "You are what you preach." Whatever you post, comment or share, reflects who you are. For some students, technology is very helpful in journalism class. No computer means no internet. No internet means no blog and no research assignment. No blog or no assigment means no grade.

          Fifth, I learned to never be forgetful, especially in bringing my new pals, my whiteboard and marker every time we have our journalism class.

          Sixth, I learned that to have a high grade, you should be hardworking.

         Seventh, I learned that pressure could be very useful. It helps us strive more to reach the expectations and not to be lazy.

          Eighth, I learned that journalists have a hard time just to research and gather facts for the articles they make. Some people treat them like pencils,  just use them and appreciate them when you need them and don't care when they are lost.  They risk their lives.They give great effort to make a good news story. We should appreciate their works.

     It is just the second quarter. I still have a lot to learn because more is yet to come.

         And now, to talk about our teacher, Mr. Paul Vincent Java Geraño. I remember the three times I was asked about the good points and bad points in our Journalism class. I told the truth. For me, Journalism is very challenging. You should always be precise in what you say. Expect the unexpected. You'll never know what is going to happen in our Journalism class. You should always follow rules. I also remember the time when he asked me how he was doing as a teacher. Again, I told the truth. Yes, he was strict but that's what made the class fun. That's what made it challenging. We learn a lot of facts from him, especially in current events. It is good also that he knows a lot of terms in vocabulary because it also helps us enhance even more our vocabulary.From him, we also learned of course, the importance of journalism and journalists to express the emotions of the people and their opinions of the truth of the events happening now.

         As a learner, Journalism has really has helped me improve and know what I am capable of.

          

                 

My first and true friends... Family

        A family is like a photo. Treasure it and hold onto it… forever.

        They say that the members of your family are your first friends and first love. They’ll stand by you in times of happiness and comfort you in times of despair. They will never leave you. I’d like to tell you about my family.

        They are my parents. They were my first teachers. They took care of me ever since I was small. Their unconditional love for me helped me grow up as a good person. Even if I have already done a lot of mistakes in my life and I have done wrong towards them, they forgave me. They taught me how important life is. They accept me for who I am. Knowing that there are a lot of children whom their parents have left them or who have broken families because their parents have separated or who have parents that abused them, I am very fortunate for I have a complete family and good parents that enlighten me to the right path.

         My parents are very supportive in all activities I do. They are always present in all shows or competitions I participate in, in school or off-campus. They provide me with all my needs. Not to mention, they’re very great cooks!

         My dad grew up as an only child, like me. I also got my height from him because he is six feet tall. He is also very smart especially in mathematics and science. He started elementary at five years old. He graduated as Doctor of Medicine in Manila, the place where he grew up. Now, he is working there. My dad is also very brave.  I may not see him every day, but I know how much he loves me because being away from your loved ones to work is a big sacrifice.

         My mom grew up with a brother and a sister. Her father died when she was still in college. Sad, isn’t it? My mom graduated as a Radiologic Technologist, a person who takes X-rays of people which is a very unusual and very hard job. She is also very smart. My mom is the person I’m with every day. She is my best friend. I tell her all the things that happen in my life. A lot of people say that we are like sisters because we have a lot in common.

         They are my heroes. They are my idols. They forever will occupy a big space in my heart and I forever will be their little girl no matter what happens.

              Now, let's talk about ME. I'm not being narcissistic, I would just like to tell something about myself. :D

              I grew up as an only child. I was a very, very short girl before and always near front when lining up by height, until I reached highschool. It was in the opening of classes in first year where I realized that I was alreay one of the tallest. That was one big change in my life. Since grade two, I have been attending ballet classes. Before my first lesson, I really did not want to become a ballerina. Later on, I realized how happy I am when I am able to dance gracefully and express what I feel through it. I can also play the piano because like ballet, I can express my feelings through it. I like reading books and writing. Books enhance my vocabulary and I learn a lot of stories about life and its mysteries. I also love sketching and drawing caricatures. For me, life is boring without creativity or color. 

         

             I also have bad (or embarrasing) confessions. I am really, really bad at volleyball. I am also very, very lazy. I am also very, very moody. I also find clowns annoying and I don't know why! I am always bored. I don't know if this is bad, but some people find it so, but I am very childish.

            I have friends before who told me that before they knew me, they would say that I look very arrogant. After some time of being together, they tell me that they realized how different I was. As an only child, I treat my best friends and cousins as sisters or brothers. They are also important to me because I can relate to them and they can relate to me. Every time I am in school, I feel happy because I am with my friends and I don't get bored.

            I also love my grandparents. They say that I am the apple of their eyes. They spoil me, but not too much. They buy me what I want. They are also very supportive and they are always present in all special moments in my life.

           I would also want to share a trivia about me and my family: I have only three first-cousins but more than 30 second-cousins. We always meet and have fun time together.

  So I think I've shared a lot about my family and because of them, I became who I am now. =)

            

          

         

In life, we meet different people and go through a lot of changes. We should be open to acceptance. Sometimes, we also see people differently as what they are. "Don't judge a book by its cover."

These everyday thoughts/words that we say may be short, but for someone, it changes his/her life. It inspires him/her and makes that person accept who she is and the challenges he/she faces in life.

Lessons From "GLee"

I loved the musical numbers and the characters! But this show isn't just  about the songs... They teach about life and how we, as highschool students, can relate to them.

Top 10 Life-inspiring Lessons I've Learned:
1. It's not about the competition. Open yourself to happiness and acceptance.

2. You can find friends in the unlikeliest places. Who knows, that's where you'll find true friends.

3.Break out of your comfort zone. Shake things up!

4. It's okay to let others shine, you'll have your time. Having friends is better than being on top alone.

5. Be true to who you are. Don't lose track of who you are.

6.Stop worrying about what other people think. If you are contented and happy with what you are, let it be.

7.Be brave to tell the truth. Lying hurts the people around you and makes life worse.

8. Life is about the choices you make. It's not always easy to make a right choice, but it's worth it.

9. Express yourself. That would help you be more open to others.

10. DON'T STOP BELIEVING! When you believe in yourself, there are no limitations in accomplishing your goals.

Lesson learned:
Being different doesn't always mean you're lame. Its a gift. It has a purpose.
Tom was smart but having been picked on by his schoolmates, his failed his exams on purpose because he did not want to be different. He did not want to be called "brainiac". He wanted to be cool. He also showed a bad attitude towards his dad.
In the end, he realized that being smart and different made his life complete and that was the way he could prove himself and help others.

No Pain Can Make Me Stop

For almost 7 years, I have been attending ballet classes and now, I couldn't live without it. Ballet has been a part of me.

       When I arrived in Iloilo from Manila, my mom enrolled me in a ballet school. On my first day, I was very nervous because I didn't know anything about it. Later on, after how many weeks, I met new friends and I learned how to be a graceful dancer but, it doesn't mean that I am already an expert. Ballet is a learning process. It takes years to be an expert. You need to be hardworking and have the determination. You should also gave patience. Most importantly, you should never give up. On my 5th year attending ballet, my first pointeshoes was given to me. Yes, it hurt. My toes got wounded, it had blisters and sometimes it would be so hard for me to move my feet. That's why we neeed practice. NO PAIN SHOULD STOP US.  I will be having my ballet classes until I graduate highschool. When I go to college, Ballet would be one of the things I would surely miss.

THEY'VE GROWN UP

     I was in the 2nd grade when the comedy show "Suite Life of Zack & Cody" was first aired on Disney Channel. It was a very funny show. It was starred by 12-year-old twins namely Dylan and Cole Sprouse who played the roles of Zack and Cody Martin, respectively.

        They were boys who lived in a hotel because their mom was working there. They did all kind of mischief which made me laugh. It became my favorite show even until the sit-com's name was changed to "Suite Life on Deck". This time, they were now in a cruise ship. They met new friends and a new chapter of their lives started. Well, it was funnier than "Suite Life Of Zack and Cody".

         After 6 years, I am still watching this show because each of the characters have their own way of making me laugh.

        Last June, their movie "The Suite Life: the movie" was premiered on Disney Channel. Of course, I watched it. I was so shocked to see that they have grown and matured. They were so tall. They had loveteams and other more. Time flies so fast. From small kids running in the hotel to teens.
Now, they are 18-years-old turning nineteen this August 4. 

        They are my favorite actors.

   

Archie!: A Superfan's Journal

Dear Journal:
         

           I'm so happy David Archuleta came to Manila!...but I did't get to see him. You know I have been a fan of his since American Idol. I love all his songs! I love his awesommmmeeeee voice. Since he got his ticket to Hollywood in American Idol, I have been watchig him until the finale, until now. I have downloaded a lot of his songs.
           I also remembered the time when he got his award for "Best Smile". Everybody agrees with that... He deserves it! Not to mention his sparkling EYES.....

       Too bad I didn't get to see him....but I won't let myself down. I know he's coming back. He will. HE WILL.

Harry Potter Will Live On Forever

    It was July 14, 2011 , when the the seventh and final part of the Harry Potter movie was premiered. As a Harry Potter fan, I got tickets a week before the showing. I was so excited for the movie's long-awaited ending. I knew that it would be a thrilling one, and yes, it was.

 

         The cast did their absolute best. They made me feel that I was also in the movie because I was able to connect to each part of the story. Having watched past parts of the movie, it was obvious that they have grown in all aspects. They have improved and matured and those made them each, one of the biggest stars of the generation.

   

           When I was younger, I would believe that magic is real because of them. When I think of it now, I would laugh but somehow, I realized that it made me happy and gave me the inspiration to do something unimaginable, something good. I realized that magic does not appear the way it is in movies, but we can still do magic of our own in a simple way, if we BELIEVE. That's also one thing I learned from Harry Potter.

            I would miss watching Harry Potter. I would miss the adrenaline rush when I watch the mind-blowing scenes. It has been a part of our lives. It has been a part of mine, especially my childhood. I'm also proud that I've supporting Harry from the start until the end.

           HARRY POTTER will always be in my HEART. HARRY POTTER will live on 

 FOREVER.
